Think Spring and Summer all year round, you are close enough to have your lunch breaks at the beach and it is jam packed with great restaurants, bars and pubs in which all are reasonably priced. Among other things that are reasonably priced are things like rent and other living expenses in comparison to other Italian cities. It always has a nice vibe and is a place that supports a healthy lifestyle. And, if you ever get sick of it, just take a ferry over to Rome or France for the weekend.
