Via
Borgo San Lorenzo 33/35/37r, Florence
Phone & Fax +39 055 21 22 06.
The restaurant is placed in an old open gallery of
the 16th century, where there was
a small market. It was born after the 1920 and at the
time was called 'Old Tavern'. In the
last years it expanded a lot with the typical
Florentine cuisine, based on country traditions.
Here you can find 'the original Florentine
beefsteak', the restaurant pride. Other local
foods are available too, such as the 'Florentine
tripe', the fried and other dishes. It is
also a grocery shop where typical
products can be bought. Possibility of on-line

Your Classic Trattoria in Florence....
In the heart of medieval Florence the typically
Florentine rooms of Trattoria La Carabaccia propose
the best of Tuscan cuisine.
Appetizers of canapes and cold cuts, fresh
pasta and hearty soups, entrees of grilled
meats; meat courses predominate here,
but the scent of the sea is not neglected
with swordfish carpaccio, baked salmon or delicious
bass, all accompanied by top quality wines and homemade
desserts.
From 1972 to
date the trattoria has represented a warm gathering spot
for all Florence gourmets, and is located
just a fifteen minute walk from the Duomo and
10 minutes from Santa Maria Novella, right
in the center of the city, very close to Porta al Prato.
Open for both lunch and dinner, La
Carabaccia represents a convenient place for
a break between a museum and monument during
the day or a nice evening with friends to completely relax
over dinner. The discovery of unique flavors and scents is
just as exciting and pleasant as seeing a masterpiece
at the Uffizi or strolling on Ponte Vecchio!... |

Harry's Bar: A Florentine Icon [by Susan D'Inverno
- New York]
After a long day of lectures, sight seeing,
and dodging motorini there
is no place to indulge yourself quite like Harry's
Bar, a point of tranquil bliss in what
can seem an overly stimulating Florence.
It's sophisticated
and worldly clientele have been coming to this posh
restaurant bar for over fifty years,
since it opened its doors to Florence in 1953.
Modeled after the cosmopolitan chic American bar style, Harry's was
created with high level clientele in mind, and
this fundamental vision has remained unchanged for
over half a century.
Once you enter the set of double doors leading
into the restaurant, it seems as though you are
stepping into your own private club, minus the
initiation fee of course.
