L'Istituto Niels Stensen di Firenze è un
Ente Morale, - Fondazione “Iniziativa Culturale Incontri N. Stensen” -
riconosciuto con decreto del Presidente della Repubblica, n. 231,
il 3 marzo 1959.
L'Istituto, gestito dai Padri Gesuiti di Firenze, è stato
inaugurato il 1 novembre 1964 ed è dedicato alla memoria di Nicolò Stenone,
scienziato del '600 (1638 -1686). Attuale direttore è P. Ennio Brovedani
sj. Scopo della Fondazione L'Istituto non ha scopo di lucro.
Fin dal suo sorgere, lo Stensen ha svolto un importante e
riconosciuto ruolo nel dibattito culturale cittadino.
Ispirandosi al travaglio scientifico-culturale di Nicolò Stenone (ricerca
scientifica e mediazione politico-culturale), si propone di favorire
la ricerca e il confronto tra le diverse culture, con iniziative
atte a promuovere l’etica del confronto e del dialogo interculturale: gruppi
di ricerca; proposte di percorsi formativi; convegni; seminari di
studio; spazi espositivi; cineforum, ecc. Il principio ispiratore è il
rispetto della dignità culturale altrui e lo scopo è eminentemente
formativo, rivolgendosi in maniera privilegiata, anche se
non esclusiva, alle generazioni più giovani (in particolare
studenti e docenti della Scuola Secondaria Superiore e dell’Università).
Nel corso del 2001 lo Stensen si è completamente rinnovato: nuovo
direttore, nuovo staff, giovanissimo, e soprattutto nuovi progetti.
Si sono costituiti diversi gruppi con svariati interessi e desiderosi
di divenire i protagonisti di una nuova “avventura culturale”. |
