Florence is the destination of many American students, which decide to come in the Tuscan chief town to complete their studies.

The is one of the most important American University in Tuscan, inside which young people are followed by excellent teachers.
Coming in inside the school with the video camera has not been easy, but the big willingness of the assistent-director, James Kaufman, has allowed us to do exceptional resumes. Girls and boys, coming from every American university, study here and try to integrate in the culture and in the uses of the town.
Kaufman talks about this presence of the Syracuse University in Florence. “This university is born thanks to the traditionally positive relationship between the city of Florence an the United States.

The exchange program at the Syracuse, often foresees the students’ insertion in families to give them the possibility to practice the Italian Language and to allow them to have an inside look in the Italian everyday life The American students who decide to come to Florence to complete their studies are more than 350 per year. The strength points of our school are the Arts, the History and the Social studies. Our institute offers a serious program integrated with funny and socializing trips in Tuscany and in Italy.

Obviously, the differences between the Syracuse University in Florence and the "headquarter" in American are remarkable; for example here they have the chance to live in a real city while in America they spend most of their time in the Campus.

The American students do not only think about the study, but also think (a lot) about the entertainment. So, we have decided to examine in detail this aspect, spending with them some night in the city clubs, pubs and bars...

We have visited pub, premises, disco-pub mostly attended by foreign students and especially by American students.

Many interesting things have emerged by our research. For example the fact that most of them think that Florence is a city much more expensive than they expected, but the experience here is, anyway, very positive for everybody also if the city is a real "flood of people"...

"We do not like going to the clubs or pubs with too much confusion, but we often prefer to go in more quiet premises with some friends to drink a shot”.
One of the "trendiest" club of the city is lately “Dolce Zucchero”, where many international students come to spend thei evenings...

“We have tried to repropose a familiar surrounding" - the manager explains -"where the boys and the girls can feel to really ease and make new acquaintances."

"They have accostumed to live in a country where up to a certain age they cannot enter the premises, or drink. We have tried here to create evening events for them with the hope that they do not exaggerate with the consumption of alchool".

Every year arrive in Florence from abroad around 14000-15000 students.
